Don't Abuse: As with a child, don't abuse your business. Example, if something needs fixing, fix it, do not wait until it gets so bad that you have to spend $1,000 on something that would have cost you a few minutes and a couple dollars.
Eliminate Bad Habits: As with a child, you want to make sure that you don't carry any bad habits into your business, for your business will ultimately reflect the habits you invest into it, whether it be good or bad, so make sure it is good. If your breakfast wasn't exactly as you like, don't go to work with a bad attitude. Once you step into the front doors of your business, always put yourself in a mood for customer service. Put, a smile on your face, it really does make you feel better. Make sure you identify your bad habits and deliberately practice, everyday, to replace them with good habits.
Eliminate Bad Influence: As with a child, you want to monitor bad influence from inside and outside your business. Feel free not to work with a customer, if you do not believe that working with them will cause you frustration and stress. A business is not all about money. Example, if someone is trying to cheat your business in someway, then this is a person is a bad influence, don't work with them. If you have an employee or a partner that seems to always have a negative effect on you and others in your business, then make a conscious decision to remove them from your business, or, if you are in a position that the only choice you have is to leave, then leave immediately. Working with someone who is a bad influence, working with negative people, will literally and figuratively drain the life out of you, and ultimately destroy your motivation and your business. It will be tough at first, but you will forever thank yourself for doing it.
