Are Your Wix Site Facebook App getting "Facebook Error Code 2" Or Other Errors? This Is May Be Why

Facebook users all over the world are having problem, either signing into Facebook or making and sharing posts, among other access and usability issues.


Myself have been unable to make and share posts on my mobile phone since early afternoon, and completely unable to access Facebook via my laptop and desktop computer.

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are still down for some users around the world


While you can open the apps, they’re missing major functions

Facebook and Instagram appear to be partially down for some users around the world today. While you can open both platforms and some services appear to have been restored, users are reporting issues with sending messages on Messenger, posting to the feed on all Facebook products, and accessing other features on Facebook.com, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Even Facebook-owned Oculus VR is experiencing issues related to the outage.


Earlier in the day, WhatsApp appeared to be fine for many people, but users in Paraguay, India, Bangladesh, Argentina, and more note that they begun experiencing issues with sending messages as the afternoon went on. DownDetector indicates that those in Brazil were experiencing the most severe outages.

Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are down for many users


At least one security firm thinks the culprit of the Facebook outage could be a border gateway protocol routing leak.


Routing internet traffic around the world relies on the border gateway protocol (BGP), which manages how internet traffic is routed the internet. BGP relies on trust between network operators to not send incorrect or malicious data. But mistakes happen, and malformed data can form a “route leak” that leads to confusion over where internet traffic should go, and can lead to massive outages.


In a BGP route leak, the routing announcements from an autonomous system that guides the information to its destination is inaccurate and is rejected by either receiver, the sender or an intermediary along the route that packet is supposed to travel.


That may be what happened to Facebook.

Facebook offline worldwide

Facebook was offline for users around the world Wednesday afternoon, with the greatest number of reports coming along the east and west coasts of the United States and from the United Kingdom.


The problem spread from about 11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, with users reporting an inability to access the timeline, create posts or even log in at all.
